Thank you all for attending the Green Infrastructure Mapping Partnership Meeting on Wednesday. It looks like we are really moving forward in establishing a collaborative to discuss, present and share ideas, information and data for the DC Metro region.

During the introductions the following were described as key reasons for being a part of a green infrastructure mapping collaborative:

  • Outreach
  • Data sharing
  • Partnerships
  • Education
  • Mapping the urban forest
  • Making connections
  • How to use/ how are we using open space
  • Collaboration
  • Queries and research
  • Communications
  • Planning
  • Setting standards

It was agreed by everyone in attendance that there is a need and we establish the collaborative.

To jump start the initative we are starting immediately with data sharing. Those in attendance with receive a follow up email with instructions on how to link the public to your data including a brief description of the data. We will also follow up with Teddy Eisenman on the Green Infrastruction Mapping Assessment to be sure all of this information is included.
